Value Based Courses

Our St. Joseph’s College of Education for Women, offers value added courses year wise for all the B. ED and M. EDstudents. These courses are designed to enhance students' skills beyond the regular curriculum, making them more competitive. They focus on practical and industry-relevant knowledge, providing students with the opportunity to gain expertise in specific areas of interest. They help the students acquire additional skills and qualifications that are relevant and in-demand in the job market. They also help students showcase their achievements and potential to employers and recruiters.

Value-added courses are highly beneficial to the students as they help to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical skills required in the real world. Students by equipping themselves with specialized skills and industry-specific knowledge, they contribute to the creation of a more skilled and adaptable workforce. This, in turn, leads to several positive societal impacts:
In essence, value-added courses play a pivotal role in societal progress by enhancing individual capabilities and fostering economic and social development.
Our College is offering ten value added courses namely……………….

  1. Communicative English,
  2. Human Values and Professional Ethics,
  3. Cookery Fundamentals,
  4. Computer Application,
  5. Guidance and Counselling,
  6. Early Childhood Care and Education,
  7. Health and Nutrition,
  8. Fabric and Glass Painting,
  9. Soft Skills and
  10. Beautician Course.

All these courses are given semester wise in the following manner:

  1. In Semester I, three courses (Communicative English, Human Values and Professional Ethics, Cookery Fundamentals)
  2. In Semester II, two courses (Computer Application and Guidance and Counselling)
  3. In Semester III, three courses (Early Childhood Care and Education, Health and Nutrition, Fabric and Glass Painting) and
  4. In Semester IV, two courses (Soft Skills and Beautician Course)

These courses are added in the regular college time table allotting an additional period enabling students for their effective learning. Students are divided into groups topursue these courses. Some courses are three months’ of duration while others are for 30 hours.  After completion of the syllabus, the students are assessed by theory and practical examinations. At the end of the course, students are distributed course completion certificates. The issuance of certificates upon completion of these courses further validates the acquired skills, providing students with a recognized credential that can open doors to new opportunities and career advancements.
