St.Joseph’s college of Education for women has its excellently equipped library housed in a second storeyed building . It is adequately ventilated and furnished with a congenial academic ambience. The library has a collection of 38,264 books, 68 journals, 544 dissertations, 4000 back volumes of journals and CDs and DVDs. Dewey Decimal Classification system is followed for the arrangement of books.
Well qualified and trained staff interested in the implementation of new technologies contributes to a professional functioning of the library.
A well furnished Research centre is started under the able guidance of senior staff and research scholars, both part time and full time from other colleges and universities have a ready access to it. We are proud to say that the college library with its physical facilities is one of the best libraries of Colleges of Education in A .P.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Automation: The collection of books is computerized and this computerized catalogue is made available for staff and students (OPAC) in the LAN. (Local area net work)
Open access: The library follows open access
Book Bank facility: Book bank facility is available for the economically backward students. They can have one Set of text books until the final examinations.
On-line Journals: Staff and Students can access to more than 2000 e-journals and 5000 e-books under the N-list programme of INFLIBNET and gets access to on line data bases, journals and dissertations under IPE( Institute of Public Enterprises) linkage . Links are provided below for e-resources and e-journals.
Digitization: All the old question papers and some of the dissertations are digitized.
Information literacy programmes:
Information literacy programmes are arranged with power point presentations for staff and students for the better usage of library services, new technologies like e-books and e-journal access. Fourth class employees are also taught alphabets.
